Do I need a doctor’s referral to come into Physio?

You do not need a doctor’s referral to come to physiotherapy. That being said, your extended health care plan may request a doctor’s referral to cover the treatment. Please check with your extended healthcare insurance company to determine if you need a doctor’s referral.

What can I expect during my first physiotherapy visit?

Your therapist will take a complete subjective history of your medical history and of your specific injury. They will complete a complete biomechanical evaluation to determine not only the tissue(s) at fault but the cause of the injury. Normally there is time to begin treatment which may include education of what your injury is and what you can do to begin treatment along with a treatment of the biomechanical injury itself. You can anticipate being there for 45 minutes to an hour on your first visit and 30 to 45 minutes on treatment dates thereafter.

Sessions are generally done in an open environment although curtains are used when necessary and private treatment rooms are available if you desire. Please feel free to request this if it will make you feel more comfortable.

Do you treat WCB or Motor Vehicle Injuries?

Yes, we are contracted with WCB (Worker Compensation Board). We treat WCB injuries as well as Concussion and Whiplash Injuries of MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident).

Do you bill physiotherapy treatment directly to my insurance company?

We direct bill the following insurance companies: Sunlife, Great West Life, Manulife, Desjardins, Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Alliance, Johnson inc.,Blue Cross, Greenshield. You are responsible for the patient co-pay amount at the time of treatment

How quickly will I be seen for my first appointment?

Typically, we are able to schedule new appointments within 24-48 hours, and we do accept walk-in clients.

What do I need to bring with me to each appointment?

For assessment and treatment purposes we need to be able to see your body move and be able to access your skin and muscles. Please bring or wear some clothing that is easy to move in like shorts and a t-shirt for men and shorts or yoga-like pants and tank tops for women. Comfortable shoes or runners may also be required for certain exercises and for treadmill running if appropriate.
